Hand stamped batik are created by applying wax with a carved stamp to a solid color base cloth. The wax forms a resist and the cloth is then over dyed. This process may be done multiple times, resulting in the cloth having many colors and design motifs.
Hand-stamped cotton bag featuring a mask inspired by the Bassa Tribe of Liberia, West Africa. Grand Bassa County—established in 1833—is a historic coastal region known for its capital, Buchanan. This design is deeply personal, honoring my maternal grandfather’s roots and celebrating the cultural legacy of my family.
