Handmade Malian cotton fabric traditionally dyed with fermented mud. It has an important place in traditional Malian culture and has, more recently, become a symbol of Malian cultural identity.

One of the best-know types of cloth from Africa are the bogolanfini, the so-called mud cloths from Mail.  Made by the Bamana women to the north of Bamako, they are decorated with geometric patterns in white on a black background.  This work is carried out on locally stripwoven cotton cloth.

Made in Mail, West Africa

Size 60"x 40"

NOTE: As with all handmade items, no two pieces are the same. Variations in design will occur.
