Collection: Handprinted in Liberia
Introducing a Collection of Hand-Painted Fabrics Inspired by the Tribal Masks of Liberia
This unique collection celebrates the vibrant cultural heritage of Liberia through hand-painted fabrics inspired by the traditional masks of the country’s seventeen tribes. Known locally as “country devils,” these masks carry deep spiritual and cultural meaning—each one representing ancestral wisdom, identity, and community rituals.
During a recent visit to Liberia this summer, I was captivated by the artistry and symbolism of these masks. A friend of mine, a talented artisan, crafts them by hand with extraordinary detail and reverence for tradition. His work stirred something in me—and from that inspiration, this fabric collection was born.
Each piece in this series reflects not only the bold lines and expressive forms of the masks but also the rich stories and soul of Liberia.
